How would you sort out this mess?

My two boys share a room. They have nice bunk beds and I have made lovely ds in red and blue with white stars and tie backs in striped red and blue. Their beds are all red, blue and white quilts and pillows. It looks great - but the bed is pine - should i paint it white? The only other furniture they have is two dark stained bookcases (very small) that look very odd in there and about 5 huge plastic red and blue toy tubs. The whole room just looks very messy and crowded even though I have tried to keep the red/blue color theme. Would I be better off moving the shelving out and replacing it with white shelving that all matches, or maybe a big wall storage unit... the tubs just are overflowing with junk toys - so, first step... clean out the toys... but what looks good to keep all the toys in... any brilliant ideas?
