I was hoping someone could tell me what game this is?

I only remember vague details about it so i don't know how much help it'll be but, i remember my cousin playing it when i was really young, probably 3 or 4. It was for NES, and it was a side scrolling action game. I only remember bits and pieces but I do remember that there was one level where you were going through this yellow brick corridor place that I think had more than one level that you could walk on, but it was all on the same screen. About halfway through, there was a boss fight of some sort. I don't remember much more after that and sorry for the bad details, but this was fifteen or sixteen years ago, remember. Does anyone have any idea what game this might be?
