Is it safe to say this guy and I have a thing?

He seems to like you, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the two of you really "have a thing." You two aren't exclusively seeing each other, so I think you two are more of friends at this point. However, he definitely seems attracted to you. I would guess that he'll ask you to the prom, but don't get your hopes up too high.
