Living in NY is good in cases like that. Go to court after pleading "not guilty". You wont have much time to explain your case so be keep it to the point, but yes, you will get points dropped, as long as your polite. Oh and dont dress like a bum. (P.S. since this is your first ticket, it will be a long time until your court date). If the cop doesnt show up twice, you get off completely.
