How do you know if weed is laced with something else?

I always buy from a dealer I know and trust (Yes I know, saying I trust a drug dealer is funny to some people). Also, dealers usually won't waste money lacing your weed. But I read on a GrCity forum that you can dab it on your tongue and see if it makes your lips or face go numb. Or that you can smell the difference sometimes.
