Can somebody help me with my Chemistry word puzzle?

So im doing a chemistry crossword puzzle in my science cl that i have to finish for homework. One of the hints is this "17. Across- s,p,d,f". Can anybody tell me what the answer could be? It is a 9 letter word for s,p,d,f. Can someone help me with this one?
