Should we support Fatah and Abbas in the West Bank and why or why not?

My opinion is yes we should.I admit it will prob create a humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip but I think the only way to defeat extremism and Islamofascism is unfortunately to allow them to exist but to undermine their economies and security.If we can do that successfully perhaps the people will get sick of them and oust them from government.Obviously that would be a very long term plan that would involve suffering for many.But we can't defeat guerrelas in guerella warfare.Not that we've shown in Iraq anyway.Nor can Israel as they ahve shown.It's risky but what choice do we have?Splitting the Palestinian Territories will create a new "Berlin Wall" but maybe if the West Bank can prosper with our help Arabs may look at things differently.One can only hope...Maybe we can allow something similar to happen in Iraq??
